Guest post: Winning For Baby

The following is a guest post by Emma Button, who Blogs at Mellow Mummy.
I have been well-trained by my own mum (Jane from the Competition Grapevine) in winning the things I need! When I was expecting my first child, between the two of us, we managed to win a few lovely things for me and my baby. Now I am expecting my second child and I have learned a lot about winning baby bits and pieces; today I’m going to share my top-tips with you.
Since becoming a mum, I have also become a mummy blogger! By that, I mean that I write about my experiences and the every day products I use at my personal blog . Mummy blogs are a great place to find competitions for products for new babies and every Friday evening I hold a roundup of blog competitions in my ‘Prizes for Parents’ blog post. Competitions on mummy blogs are usually easy to enter and tend to have a very low number of entries so your chances of winning are high. In the past 2.5 years blog comps have provided my daughter with feeding bottles, weaning kits, lullaby music, baby lotions, clothing and a whole host of vouchers and toys.
I’ve also learned which mother and baby sites are worth visiting. The big sites such as and mumsnet may run some very appealing competitions for big prizes such as nursery furniture, prams and electronic toys but it is the slightly smaller sites that are more appealing to me. The competitions at and are always easy to enter once you are registered – I’ve won several lovely mother and baby products from them over the years.
Facebook and twitter are also my friends. On facebook, I keep up-to-date with parenting comps through my friends’ timelines and through the company pages I like. Keep your eyes peeled for late evening pleas for entries as this often means that they are suffering from a low entry rate. Lots of the smaller nursery companies use facebook actively to promote their ranges and some offer really very scrumptious prizes. My most recent prize for the new baby came from Facebook and was a lovely set of aromatherapy products for a restful baby and a set of blackout blinds for the nursery.
Also look out for baby competitions in the magazines of all the big baby clubs – Bounty, Emma’s Diary, Boots, Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda as well as Heinz, Hipp Organic, Plum Baby, Tommee Tippee and Organix.
